A Very Busy Week!

We’ve had a whirlwind of a week here at KHS!  Last Tuesday we closed on property for our new location, we’re planning and fundraising for the Reverse Raffle November 20th, we’ve been broken into and robbed, we’ve been on the front page of the Sunday Kalamazoo Gazette, and featured on WWMT!  With all of that going on in just the span of 7 days, you can imagine we’re all looking for the weekend to hurry  up and get here!

With all of what has happened and all that we have planned for the the next few months (and years), we’re slowing down for a minute to step back and thank all of our supporters for everything you do to help animals in our communities.  These are just a few of the reasons why we’re so thankful to do our work here in Kalamazoo – an community of animal lovers and people who want to help…

  • Yes, we lost our donation jar, but Fear the Farm has created a coupon that can be used to help us earn back some of the lost money;
  • Today we’ve been nominated to earn “Casual Day” donations by supporter who works at a local business (we’ll announce who if we are selected!);
  • People who can’t attend the Reverse Raffle event have made donations toward Operation Fix-It, and people who are attending donated above the cost of their tickets;
  • The volunteer who made our stolen donation box stopped in right away today to promise us a new one (with upgrades!);
  • Kalamazoo Dept. of Public Safety was at our building right away after the break-in and demonstrated yet again their professionalism and genuine care for their city;
  • WWMT Channel 3 News put out quick and accurate coverage of our break-in, which inspired new donations to come in;
  • Consumers Energy invited us to be a part of the Smart Energy Challenge which would allow us to win up to $6000 over the next 6 months;
  • Your likes, shares, comments, calls, donations and all of the other ways you support us have been incredible and we wouldn’t be able to do any of the amazing things we do without you on our team!

Thank you, Kalamazoo and all the surrounding area and supporters!  As a Humane Society, we couldn’t ask to work in a more supportive or dedicated place!

If you’re wondering what you can do to help, here are some suggestions:

If you have other ideas you’d like to share with us, give us a call or email jbarber@kazoohumane.org!  We’re fully supportive of any suggestions you have and will help in any way possible.
